Bamford Play Area scuppered!
Plans for a play area opposite Bamford Precinct, Norden Road, have been thrown out by the Council’s Performance Scrutiny Committee. Separate surveys had been carried out by the Council and the Lib.Dem Ward Councillor, William Hobhouse, which had been combined but were considered by Conservative Ward Councillor, Jane Gartside, at the Township Action & Resources Committee to be flawed, resulting in the survey being reported to the Performance Scrutiny Committee who referred it back to the Action & Resources Committee for the consultation to be carried out again. The Committee decided that this would take too long as the play area had to be up and running by March next year, therefore the money would go to a more deserving area in Castleton. This is good news for Bamford residents who were against the proposed play area as they felt the site, which had been donated by Sir Samuel Turner for all the people of Bamford, was not a suitable one, being too near a main road and would be a magnet for anti-social behaviour which residents already have to contend with.
