Three stars are not enough!

It is supposed to be good news that we now have a three star Council. I’m sure the good people of Rochdale will jump for joy at hearing that when we have a town centre that is slowly slipping further into decline, we have some of the worst roads in the north west, our once popular market is losing stalls and trade, and we have been labelled the benefit capital of the country. Yet our Chief Executive can gloat in the Council’s Magazine “Local Matters” that we can all give our Lib.Dem-run Council a pat on the back. I don’t think so! I would like to point out that this situation won’t get better until the public decide they’ve had enough and rise up and demand a change in who runs the Council.

What the good people of Rochdale want is a town to be proud of where they can tell other people that shopping in Rochdale is a wonderful experience with a broad range of shops, that our roads are the best in the north west, that our market is on a par with Bury’s, and we are no longer classed as one of the poorest towns in the country.

Members of the public – we need a change in order to let the Conservatives run the Council as has happened in Bury where the town centre is being regenerated big time. For that to happen you need to use your vote – wisely. It’s no use complaining – you deserve the Council you elect. Therefore all those people who sit at home on election day and don’t use their vote need to have a change of mind. Unfortunately, there are no local Council elections this year, but next year you can do just that and make that change that Rochdale deserves.
